Coach K took a fine lineup of individual American athletes and turned them into a fantastic basketball team all honored to represent this nation and bound together to bring honor to the USA The stars in Beijing were those stars on our flag. Instead of blooming egos, we had soaring eagles.
As I watched the Gold Medal Awards Ceremony on TV as Kobe and then Coach K sang out the words to our National Emblem, somehow, for me, that said it all. And the Star Spangled Banner, in glory shall wave, o’er the land of the free and the home of the brave.
