Several years ago a friend of mine left a message on my answering machine and I shall forever treasure his words. He said, “Art, a lot of men will be sitting down to dinner with their families tonight, alive and in one piece just because of your continuing efforts in safety.” Just last week I received this message from Australia from a OHS director in a major hospital system, “I hope you are well. I enjoy the safety content of your blog and loved your book Selling Safety in the 90’s – it inspired me to get into OH&S all those years ago.”
This is the kind of fuel that keeps my system running. Look around you at those people who are having an impact on your performance and let them know that you appreciate their continuing efforts.
