As I watched the Olympics this year I thought about that saying, The Joy of Victory and the Agony of Defeat. Watching Michael Phelps pull in his fist full of medals certainly displayed that joy of victory again and again and then, unfortunately, watching Alecia Sacramone dissolve the American Artistic Gymnastics dream of a gold medal certainly displayed that agony of defeat. I could empathize with both athletes, not that I ever lifted a finger in competitive sports but I thought back on my career as a speaker and recalled a few precious moments where everything went exactly right at that most important moment when it meant the most and other times when everything took me to a disaster. I guess in a way, the Olympics mirror the events of many of our lives.
