Thinking In Music

“I did not come to my fundamental understanding of the universe through my rational mind. I often think in music.” Albert Einstein

When I read that quote it started me thinking about how many speakers work the lyrics of a song into their talks because sometimes a great lyricist can say more with one line than some writers can in a whole book. Bob Dylan was named a Nobel Laureate recently for the words in his songs

Some of my favorite speech material is taken from Broadway Plays such as quoting Bloody Mary in  South Pacific. “You’ve got to have a dream, if you don’t have a dream,  how you goin’ to make that dream come true.”

In the movie Mary Poppins sang
“In every job that must be done
There is an element of fun
You find the fun and snap!
The job’s a game And every task you undertake
Becomes a piece of cake
A lark! A spree! It’s very clear to see that
A Spoonful of sugar helps the medicine go down.

Oh, there is such power and possibility in a great song. A friend of mine reminded me that there is real power and relief in the Lyrics of Zippty Do Da. Go ahead. Look it up.  Try it. See if it doesn’t life your spirit.
