I’ve had a couple of teeth extracted in this past year and I have been finding it more and more difficult to chew certain items such as steak. I thought it was time that I made an experiment and so I headed to the Golden Corral over on Highway 55 just off I-40 here in North Carolina. We arrived shortly after 3 p.m. for the special senior rate offered from 2-4 p.m. The whole chow down comes with a free beverage too for less than $10 each and when you are still around after 4 p.m. you can enjoy the dinner entree too. I decided to turn that place into my own laboratory.
First I went through the salad section. I took very small portions of each item. I don’t have a really great bite. No molars and such. To cut to the quick I came out of that place a bit over full but so pleased. I even ate a bit of steak (with a little effort). Chicken was a challenge for some reason but when I adjusted my attitude we got along just fine. I was able to eat almost everything I tried. I kept going back and adding tasting size servings of items to my list. Man those folks turn out really great food. I have decided that I will have to do a lot more research soon. I explained this to my dentist at the Geriatrics section of the Dental School at UNC and he made a note of it. I suggested that they give cards introducing patients to Golden Corral so folks with new dentures or special challenges might create their own labs to discover how many wonderful dining options are still open to them. I saw the wheels spinning around in his mind.
