Our Hummin’ Love Song

Humming Birds

Are you staying home as you read this because of the coronavirus? Well for folks married or otherwise this can be quite a challenge. It might be quite a strain. I’ve read that the sales of alcohol, illegal drugs and porno are soaring. Mental health problems, suicide and spouse abuse are skyrocketing. Oh where is the relief we seek?

Now I have a repertoire of songs I’ve written and recorded with Greg Brayton and I went searching for just the right song for folks who have come to the point where they have difficultly conversing. I remember the session when we recorded this song. We always began by my reading the lyric and as we went along I would describe the characters in the song and when I got to the last chorus I asked Greg if he could make it a duet with a really beautiful girls voice singing harmony. “Can you do a really beautiful girls voice, Greg?” I asked. “I don’t know, Art. I never tried to do a really beautiful girls voice.”

Now I do believe he created one of the most beautiful girl’s voices I’d ever heard. Please give it a listen and tell me what you think about it.
Now be sure to hum along.

“Our Hummin’ Love Song” by Art Fettig featuring the voices of Greg Brayton)

There must be a million love songs
I’ve mastered quite a few.
They all seem so inadequate
To describe how I feel about you.
I’ve searched to find those words myself
But I’ve always come up short
And so I’ll hum you my love song
As a kind of last resort.

Chorus
(Just hum…) Hm. Hm. Hm. Hm. Hm. Hm. Hm.

Verse
Now you can tell by my hummin’
That I’ve a love that’s strong.
And you can see by my strummin’
It is our special love song
You are my only true love
I’m struck speechless by your charms
So I’ll hum you this little love song
While you’re right here in my arms.

Now this is our hummin’ love song.
Ours for eternity.
I’ll hum this song only for you
And you can hum it, just for me.
We’ll go through our lives together
Sweethearts, night and day
And though we can’t find those proper words
We’ll be hummin’ all the way.

Hum Hum Hum Hum. Hum Hum.
And though we can’t find those proper words
We’ll be hummin’, and lovin’ all the way.
