Volunteering
Over 26% of all Americans do some kind of volunteer work during the year.  With our current economy there are more needs to be met than ever and a greater need for volunteers. Sure, I take my turn with the others doing minor jobs around the church and I’ve done my share of speeches but I plan to do a little more right now because there is a greater need.  Now let’s get down to the real reason for my decision to do more. I will be volunteering in the days ahead not for others but for me. That is right, I will be doing for others for my own selfish reasons because I find that I am happier and there is more joy in my life when I am serving others.  If you’d like a bit more happiness in your life then try it.  Volunteer.

Say Something Good
World Series. Baseball used to be an important part of my youth, not as a participant, although I did spend some time chasing flies at a local sandlot, no,  I was a Detroit Tiger fan for many years and I must confess that I hadn’t watched a game on TV all year, not until the final games between the Tigers and Twins. Well, I am back in the groove again watching the playoffs and looking forward to the world series. It is wonderful to watch so many people screaming their lungs out and cheering their team to victory.  May God Bless America and keep out troops from harm.

Points To Ponder
Don’t ask yourself what the world needs. Ask yourself what makes you come alive and then go do that. Because what the world needs is people who have come alive! Howard Thurman

A Little Humor
How many programmers does it take to screw in a light bulb? None, that’s a hardware problem.

Need a laugh right now?

Quote of the Week
As soon as we attract enough attention in the world to play a part in it, we are set rolling like a ball which will never again be at rest. Charles Joseph
