Thinking about the future in the past

” I’d put my money on sun and solar energy. What a source of power! “

In a conversation between Thomas Edison, Henry Ford and Harvey Firestone back in 1931 Mr. Edison said, “We are like tenant farmers chopping down the fence around our house for fuel when we should be using Nature’s inexhaustible sources of energy — sun, wind and tide,… I’d put my money on sun and solar energy. What a source of power! I hope we don’t have to wait until oil and coal run out before we tackle that.”

Note: I am endeavoring to unload about a ton of notes, vignettes and such and came upon the above. I’m not anti- oil, gas, coal, or a lot of other things. I believe in solar power, wind and using tide for power but I do not believe in $4.09 a gallon for my gasoline.  Far as wind, I think we have had way too much of it coming out of Tampa and Charlotte, NC.  If we searched I suspect that we might find a lot of bad to say about the above three men, but they sure did get things moving.  We need a few good, not perfect men or women right now like them to really get things started right now.
